Biography

He was born in Palamós (Girona). He studied his Bachelor of Music at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu (Barcelona) under the tutelage of soprano Dolors Aldea. He had the opportunity to work with many internationally respected musicians including Carlos Álvarez, Eric HalfvarsonCarlos Chausson, Joan Pons, Teresa Berganza, Victor Sicard, Carmen Bustamante, Raul Gimenez and Mireia Pintó. He is currently refining his vocal technique and role study with dramatic soprano Cynthia Jacoby-Deventer in Germany.

 

During his last seasons 2019-2022 he was the baritone soloist with "Operastudio Niederrhein", the young artist program of the Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach, Germany. As part of the young solo ensemble, Guillem Batllori has debuted the roles of Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Sprecher / 1.Priester / 2.Geharnischter Mann (Die Zauberflöte), Thierry / 2.Komissar (Dialogues des Carmélites), Mitjucha (Boris Godunov) and many others in the main stage productions of the theater.

Between 2015 and 2019, before baritone Guillem Batllori entered his permanent engagement in Germany, he was invited to sing numerous engagements at international venues and summer festivals where he was able to extend his experience and repertoire. Among others, he made his debut as Ford (Falstaff) at Amics de l'Òpera de Sabadell, having sung Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) there the previous season and also at the prestigious Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg Summer Festival (Germany). He has sung Marchese Duphol (La Traviata) at Festival Castell de Peralada, (Spain) as well as the role of Marcello (La Bohème) with the JONC (Youth National Orchestra of Catalonia) at Palau de la Música Catalana. A role that he sang again last summer at Aegean Festival of Syros in Greece and that he also brought to the stage last October and November in different theaters in Spain and France.

The most recently engagement of the baritone was to sing Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) with the orchestra La Petite Bande, conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as the role of Ping (Turandot) in several theaters in Spain and the Opera de Massy (France), and Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the Palau de la Música with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and Orfeó Català.

Winner this last 2023 of the first prize of the singing contest Mirabent i Magrans of Sitges. This year he made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, playing Liberto and the 2nd soldier in L'incoronazione di Poppea, and Lepidus in the opera Antony and Cleopatra of John Adams.
